The Streets of Mexico City

Country:  Mexico      City:  Mexico City

Place: Plaza de la Constitucion o Zocalo

This was my third time in visting Mexico City.  The last time I stayed in the Zona Rosa area  in the NH hotel.  This time, I decided to make a change, choosing a more central location around Zocalo Square.   The Zocalo Central Hotel was petite by Zona Rosa standard, but was also quite exquisite and charming.  This time, I placed a greater effort on observing the local way of life, and used the huge square as a focal point on many occasions. In spite the presence of the National Palace, it is the Cathedral which dominates the area.

Travel:  American Airlines via Dallas Fort Worth

The last visit, I was enchanted by the Pyramids of Teotihuacan and the Shrine Guadalupe.  It was a sightseeing tour ( Recommended ), and it delivered the unique experience of both settings. Teotihuacan offers the best example of Meso-american culture, and the biggest surprise is the way thesemonuments have survived the test of time.

Bosque de Chapultepec is the place to hang out, if you are tired of walking.  But it also offers you lot more ,as lots of museum are in the vicinity.  There is also a zoo and a garden,  and arcades of vendors selling practical items, flea market style.

Museo Nacional de Antropología

No one visiting Mexico City can ignore the Anthropology Museum.  A quick walk through the Botanical Garden, cross the main road and you are there. The artifacts are numerous, and are very well arranged. Be prepared to send at least a couple hours here.
