The Canary Islands are group of islands governed by Spain which lies around sixty miles of the coast of Morocco.  There are seven main islands including Gran Canaria, and numerous other islands and islets. They are now generally seen as perfect tourist destinations by Europeans who flock there to escape the cold, and enjoy the sun. Maspalomas is situated in the southern part of Gran Canaria.  It is part of the municipality of San Bartolome de Tirajana.  Based on my personal experience, it appears to be a lot more sunny, and have far less downpours of rain than the north of the island, including Las Palmas.  It is also very well developed with numerous hotels, and resorts. During my time there, I stayed at the Eugenia Victoria Hotel, in Gran Canaria Avenue, not far from the Playa de Ingles. More Photos From Costa del Sol Just the kind of place to escape from the wet and cold London weather.  The airport is Malaga, and you can make your choice along the Costa.  Although the temperature is not exactly boiling, you can get by with sweaters and light coats.   Keep in mind that when the sun comes out in force, it can be quite warm.  Then, you can strip down to the shirts, and shorts. ‘Mora y Bravard’ Casarabonela Cactus and other Succulent Plant Botanical Garden Casarabonela Cactus and other Succulent Plant Botanical Garden ‘Mora y Bravard’ is located in the province of Malaga (southern Spain), in the white village of Casarabonela.  It hosts a comprehensive collection of succulents and is certainly worth a visit. I had the pleasure of visiting last weekend, and was very impressed with superb garden.  I was also moved by the kindness, and the hospitality of the staff. Winston
