Have a look at some of the other buildings in downtown Havana.

There are over 2000 species of named Euphorbias. Not all of them are succulents. They come in all shapes and sizes. Some are large and tree-like, while many are small like cacti. They are found in Madagascar, Africa, the Middle East and the Americas.  They are sun-loving, and they certainly prefer the warm to the cold. They are grown from seeds, cuttings, rhizomes, and sometimes even leaves. But care must be taken when dealing with these plants because they contain a poisonous sap, milky in appearance, which can be irritating, and sometimes harmful. Wash your hands thoroughly after any contact. Let me introduce you to one of my favorite Euphorbias.  It looks very much like another popular Euphorbia; yes, the Christmas plant which we see every year. Country: Brazil         City: Rio de Janeiro     Place:  Around Santo Dumont Airport Queen of the Tropics: No tree displays a grander flower presentation as this one.  From the habitat of Madagascar, the Delonix regia is now seen everywhere in the tropical world.  You would be hard-pressed to get it to grow in the temperate world, but I think it is worth a try.  It can easily be grown from seeds.
